Request for Quote
Send your files and requirements, and SR returns a documented custom manufacturing quote from its vetted supplier network. One request covers process scope, price, lead time and inspection.
A custom manufacturing quote is a supplier's documented estimate of price, lead time, process scope, tooling, materials, quality requirements and delivery terms for a specified part. To get one from SR, submit CAD data, a controlled 2D drawing, material grade, quantities, tolerances, finishes and inspection requirements through the RFQ form.
How it works
Upload CAD data, a controlled 2D drawing, and a BOM for assemblies. A complete package means fewer supplier assumptions and a quote closer to the final price.
A custom manufacturing quote is a supplier's documented estimate of price, lead time, process scope, tooling, materials, quality requirements, and delivery terms for producing a specified part or assembly.
| File | What it provides | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| STEP (.step,.stp) | 3D geometry for process and tooling review | Preferred neutral CAD format |
| PDF drawing | Dimensions, tolerances, GD&T, finish and notes | Must be the current revision; ASME Y14.5 is commonly used for GD&T |
| DXF (.dxf) | 2D profiles for sheet-metal and laser cutting | Include bend lines and material thickness |
| BOM | Part list, quantities and assembly structure | Useful for assemblies and multi-part orders |

Services
SR's typical quote turnaround is 5-7 working days from a complete RFQ package. Price is driven by process, material, tolerance, quantity and inspection scope, not by a single rate.
Milled and turned metal and plastic parts.
Laser cut, bent and welded.
Aluminum and zinc, high volume.
Complex steel, near net shape.
Strength from grain flow.
Progressive-die volume.
Standard and custom profiles.
Boards, cables and harnesses.

Talk to an engineerProvide CAD, a fully dimensioned drawing, revision, material and condition, quantities, tolerances, finish, delivery target, inspection, certifications and compliance requirements. Complete inputs let suppliers quote scope, price and lead time without assumptions.
Missing drawings, ambiguous units, unspecified finishes, incomplete quantities, unclear inspection and unpriced tooling or special processes commonly create quote uncertainty. State assumptions and exclusions in the quote so both sides see the same scope.
Yes. Annual volume and quantity breaks help suppliers estimate capacity, tooling amortization, material purchasing and production pricing. A prototype-only RFQ often returns a higher unit price than a quote that includes expected annual demand.
Depending on risk, request material certificates, a Certificate of Conformance, dimensional reports, CMM data, test results, traceability and first-article documentation. Name the documents in the RFQ so inspection scope is priced into the quote.
